Chelsea will return to Premier League action this Saturday when they travel to Lancashire to play Burnley at Turf Moor.

Venue: Turf Moor (Burnley)

Key Statistics

Burnley have conceded an average of 2.71 goals-per-game across their seven PL home meetings with Chelsea (D1, L6).

Sean Dyche’s side have won just one of their last eight home games in all competitions (D4, L3).

They have scored 22 goals this season. Only Norwich (15) have scored fewer goals.

Chelsea have won their last two PL games.

They are unbeaten in their last nine games played within 90 minutes (W5, D4).

Thomas Tuchel’s side have the joint-most PL away clean sheets (seven) this season.

Head to head

Burnley have just one win in 15 Premier League (PL) attempts against Chelsea (D4, L10)

Burnley

Burnley will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Chelsea to Turf Moor on Saturday.

The Clarets’ survival chances took a big hit on Wednesday as Leicester City defeated them 2-0.

The loss ended a run of three games without defeat (W2, D1) and kept the hosts still rooted in the relegation zone, one point behind Everton having played two games more.

With Everton not playing until Monday night, they have another chance to dig themselves out of the mud this weekend if they win this game.

But with one win over Chelsea in 15 tries, this looks like an impossible task. But given that they have held their fort against Tottenham in their recent 1-0 win and also restricted Liverpool to just one goal in a 1-0 loss recently, they will fancy their chances of causing an upset against a Chelsea side likely to be distracted by the news around their club owner.

Meanwhile, Matej Vydra and Johann Berg Gudmundsson are the only injury absentees for Sean Dyche’s side, while Erik Pieters is also in a race against time to be fit for this game.

Chelsea

Up-for-sale club Chelsea will look to keep their performance on the pitch professional and up to speed when they face Burnley on Saturday.

The Blues are looking not to be distracted by the happenings around the club after their owner of 19 years Roman Abramovich put up the club for sale last recently following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

They come into this tie on the back of a 3-2 comeback win over Luton Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

In the Premier League, they are currently sitting in third place, 16 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Given that they are far away from the top, their immediate target seems to have shifted from a PL title quest to securing a top-four finish this season.

Ahead of this round, they are just three points behind Manchester United who have played two games more. As a result, they will be desperate to keep winning to avoid dropping down the table.

With only one loss from their last ten PL games, they will fancy their chances of getting a good result here.

Meanwhile, Tuchel has a fully fit squad to select from, with only Ben Chilwell missing from this game.
