Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told Manchester United to name their selling price as another club has tabled an offer for him this summer.
The Portugal international is keen to leave Old Trafford this summer. He has already asked the club to release him from his £360,000-per-week contract ahead of its final year.
However, according to The Sun, he now wants the club that he joined just last summer to name the amount they want to sell him so that he can trigger a move away by the end of the transfer window.
Ronaldo returned to training just this week and reportedly held showdown talks with Man United chiefs, where he reiterated his desire to leave.
During the talks, his agent Jorge Mendes informed Man United that Ronaldo has a ‘live offer’ and that a transfer fee must be named for his star. Although no side has been named as the interested party, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have already distanced themselves from signing the 37-year-old in recent weeks. So it leaves Ronaldo’s options a bit limited. Chelsea and Napoli have also been linked.
Despite Ronaldo’s insistence that he wants to leave, Manchester United have maintained that they are not willing to let him go this summer. The Old Trafford side have included the Portuguese star in their plans this season and have received no enquiries for him.
Meanwhile, the report by the Sun also adds that the Red Devils have frowned at the suggestion they should let Ronaldo leave for free by ending his contract, because of what was described as his ‘loyalty’ to the club.
