Everton will take on Manchester United at Goodison Park as both teams lock horns in round 10 of the 2022/2023 English Premier League season.

The Toffees put in great effort to avoid relegation last season, but have looked like a different outfit, picking up four draws and two losses, including two back-to-back victories in their last two games to sit in eleventh place in the EPL standings.

Frank Lampard has built his side this season based on defensive rigidity and grit, with the Toffees often grinding out results, either to frustrate an opponent or secure all three points. These qualities were on full display in their last two league games, with Frank Lampard’s side securing all three points despite having fewer shots on target in those two games.

With their compact and disciplined back-line, Everton have the best defensive record in the division, having conceded just seven league goals so far this season, and Frank Lampard will be counting on his impressive unit once more when Erik Ten Hag and his boys come visiting.

Everton have been a thorn in the flesh of the Red Devils in recent times, with the Manchester side beating them just twice in their last five meetings. The Toffees on the other hand have secured two draws and one win, with two of those coming last season.

Possible Everton starting line-up

Jordan Pickford; Seamus Coleman, Conor Coady, James Tarkowski, Vitalii Mykolenko; Idrissa Gueye, Alex Iwobi, Amadou Onana; Dwight McNeil, Demarai Gray, Neal Maupay.

Injured: Mason Holgate, Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina, Nathan Petterson, Andros Townsend

Doubtful: Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Suspended: None

Manchester United

Manchester United responded to their 6-3 drubbing in the hands of Manchester City last weekend with a 2-3 win over Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League last Thursday night.

Erik Ten Hag responded by naming a different lineup from the one that fell to a defeat at the Etihad with Ronaldo and Casemiro coming in for Rashford and Scott McTominay and Victor Lindelof filling in for the injured Raphael Varane. The result of the lineup was a one-goal lead for Omonia Nicosia in the 34th minute.

Erik Ten Hag showed tactical nous with a double change of Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho making way for Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw at halftime and it was the Substitute Marcus Rashford who put his team in front with a brace and set up fellow substitute Anthony Martial for the winner to seal all three points for the Red Devils.

Manchester United will now turn their attention back to the Premier League when they travel to Goodison Park as they look to recover from their derby loss.

The long protracted saga with Cristiano Ronaldo has been a distraction for Manchester United, with the decision of the Dutch tactician to keep the Portuguese Legend on the bench since the start of the season making headlines weekly.

However, it is yet to be seen if the gaffer will hand the iconic number seven his second start in the EPL this season. Anthony Martial on the other hand will have a strong case to start after scoring three goals in his last two outings for the Red Devils since returning from injury.

Possible Manchester United starting line-up

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelöf, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia; Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen; Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho; Anthony; Marcus Rashford.

Injured: Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane

Doubtful: Donny van de Beek,

Suspended: None
