Liverpool identify 23-year-old Premier League ace as Van Dijk’s replacement

Virgil Van Dijk-Liverpool

Liverpool are keeping tabs on the Brighton defender Ben White.

According to reports, the Premier League giants want to sign the 23-year-old centre back after losing Virgil van Dijk for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

The Dutchman will undergo knee surgery after a horror tackle from Jordan Pickford during the Merseyside derby.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool make their move for White when the transfer window reopens in January.

Leeds United tried to sign Ben White earlier this summer but they failed with three offers. Brighton were adamant that they won’t sell the player.

Brighton will know that Liverpool are desperate for a defender right now and they will demand for a premium if they are forced to sell the young defender.

As for Ben white, the chance to move to a club like Liverpool does not come often and the player will be tempted to jump ship if there is a concrete offer on the table.

It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds in the next few months.

There is no doubt that Liverpool need to bring in a quality defender to plug the gap left by Virgil van Dijk and Ben white has the talent to develop into a top-class player for the Reds.

Someone like Jurgen Klopp could take his game on to another level with his coaching. White improved a lot after a spell under Bielsa and he could make similar improvement under Klopp as well.
