Mukesh Ambani and world’s tenth richest man would prefer to buy Arsenal rather than Premier League giants Liverpool or Manchester United, according to reports.
Manchester United owners, the Glazer family, have put the Old Trafford side up for sale and reportedly want as much as £7billion to sell the club they bought in for £790 million (about $1.4 billion at the time) in 2005.
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) want as much as £4billion for the Merseyside club, a price that is affordable for Ambani. The Indian entrepreneur is chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd., and is believed to be worth around $90.7billion (£73.2m).
However, according to the Athletic, Ambani is not interested in buying any of the two available Premier League clubs, as Arsenal are his preferred club if he does decide to buy a Premier League team.
According to the reports, the businessman favours a deal to buy the North London side because his son Akash is a loyal Arsenal supporter.
But the Gunners, like Liverpool and Man United, aren’t up for sale at the moment. Club owner Stan Kroenke has refused to sell, despite coming under pressure in the recent past from Arsenal fans.
The American has given no indication that he would be willing to relinquish control of the club even when protests were held outside the Emirates Stadium in April 2021.
