Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling is open to leaving the Etihad if he continues getting less game time.
Sterling has clearly fallen down the pecking order of Pep Guardiola, making only one start for City in the Premier League since the start of this season.
Record signing Jack Grealish continues to be a primary starter for the Sky Blues while Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres have flourished in the attack this season.
Sterling’s fortunes could change as Torres suffered a fractured foot during the international break with Spain.
However, the former Liverpool star has revealed his desire to play abroad, thus fuelling his exit speculations.
Sterling said (h/t BBC Football): “If there was the opportunity to go somewhere else, I would be open to it.”
“At this moment in time, football is the most important thing to me.”
“I have always had something that maybe one day I would love to play abroad and see how I meet that challenge.”
Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on Sterling as they have identified him and Dani Olmo as primary targets in the winter transfer exchange.
Sterling has been cited as one of the most prolific forwards in Europe due to his impact at Man City, however his performance has dipped over the last two seasons.
The 26-year-old was still impactful during Euro 2020, helping the Three Lions to reach the finals.
Sterling has a contract running until 2023 but it remains to be seen whether City would part ways with him in January or next summer.
