Real Madrid held by Sociedad in La Liga Opener, David Silva debut for home team

Real Madrid were held to a 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad in La Liga at Anoeta Stadium earlier today.

Zinedine Zidane would have expected an easy win for his side and he will be disappointed with the performance from his players.

The Spanish champions will be hoping to retain their title this season and they will have to win these games in order to beat Barcelona to the League title.

Real Madrid lacked a clinical presence upfront and it will be interesting to see if they can improve on their attacking performance in the coming weeks.

The likes of Odegaard were brought in to add more creativity to the side and improve the attacking performance. However, Los Blancos struggled to fire in the final third tonight.

There is no doubt that the Spanish champions have several world-class attackers at their disposal and Zidane will be demanding a reaction from his players in the coming weeks.

Real Madrid are Certainly capable of creating more chances against opponents like Sociedad and the fans will be expecting their team to bounce back straight away with a win in their next game.

The Spanish outfit have loaned Gareth Bale to Tottenham earlier this week and it will be interesting to see if they bring in some attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

The likes of Jovic have not lived up to the expectations so far and Real Madrid should look to bring in another quality striker to support Benzema and share the goalscoring burden with him.

David Silva made a La Liga comeback for Real Sociedad after a decade-long spell with Manchester City. He came as a substitute of Alexander Isak at 63 minute of the match.
