Jose Mourinho eyeing up a move for £17m-rated Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka

Arsenal are prepared to sanction the departure of midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer.

The Swiss international has had a mixed time at Emirates since his move from the Bundesliga, and it would be wise of the Londoners to move him on and invest in a younger and more talented player.

The Gunners need a rebuild this summer, and the sales of Xhaka and others could allow them to fund their own signings.

Apparently, the Italian side Roma are keen on signing the player and Arsenal have informed them that the player will cost around £17m.

Jose Mourinho is set to take over as the Roma manager this summer, and the Portuguese will be looking to build his own squad. Xhaka has been identified as a summer target.

It will be interesting to see if Roma are willing to pay that kind of money for someone who has not been at his best for a while now.

Xhaka is 28, and he is unlikely to get any better at this stage of his career. But the experience and grit of the Swiss are what Jose’s Roma are looking for. The Italian side will probably look to negotiate for the fee.

Xhaka was a top-quality player for Borussia Monchengladbach before his move to Arsenal, and if he can regain his peak form, he could be a crucial player for Roma.

Italian Serie A and Roma can be the ideal place that suits the Swiss midfielder. Also, Mourinho is an experienced manager compared to Mikel Arteta, and Mourinho likes a leader on the pitch. Xhaka is definitely a leader and a strong character that Jose Mourinho wants.
