Roma observing Wilfried Zaha as the Crystal Palace star enters the final year of his contract

AS Roma are monitoring the situation of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha although they have not made an offer for the Ivorian.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the 29-year-old striker, who has one season left on his contract in south London and is constantly linked with a move away from Selhurst Park.

Zaha is Crystal Palace’s most important player and had initially left the club in 2013 when he signed for Manchester United after making a good impression during his early years at Palace.

But his time at Old Trafford was short-lived under David Moyes, who gave Zaha just two league appearances before sending him on loan to Cardiff.

After a season on loan at the Welsh club, the Ivory Coast international re-joined Crystal Palace in 2014 and has remained since, securing a place in first-team, and becoming one of the most beloved stars.

He has often been the leading player for his team, scoring 83 goals and providing 73 assists in 429 games for Palace.

At 29, he is yet to really test success at the club level and has said previously that he wants to play at the highest level.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, AS Roma are considering making a bid for him, and his club are reportedly open to selling him now instead of him potentially leaving on a free transfer next season.

Palace feel that they can cope without the Ivorian due to the emergence of some highly promising youngsters, such as Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, and Michael Olise.

Despite this, selling Zaha would be a massive gamble as he was Palace’s top goal scorer with 14 in the Premier League.

Palace manager Patrick Vieira is currently monitoring Morgan Gibbs-White at Wolves and Flynn Downes at Swansea.
