Paul Pogba was desperate to leave Old Trafford this summer with Los Blancos, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan all showing interest to sign him. From summer 2019, he had openly shown interest to move to Madrid and his agent Mino Raiola even declaring that he would bring a great talent to Madrid this summer.

Covid-19 could have a huge impact on the economics of ‘football Transfer market’ with most of the clubs forced to tighten the spending. Manchester United have already been forced to follow the asking price for clubs hopeful of landing their £89million club-record signing. The Daily Mail reports that Manchester United have to forget their initial £150m demand and lower the expectation by 50 per cent.
The 27-year-old midfielder reportedly earns approximately £290,000-a-week on his current contract that expires next summer with the option of an extra year. He earns way more than all four from Liverpool, who made it to to ‘Top 10’ of Ballon d’Or nomination. And it appears his wage demand is proving to be a stumbling block following the coronavirus pandemic.
For wages too, Real Madrid may be interested in signing the World Cup winner, but the player has to take a pay cut.
The opportunity to team up with fellow compatriot Zinedine Zidane and play under Zizue remains a temptation for Pogba. They will face some competition from Juventus who have already hinted their intentions to re-sign the midfielder but admit his wages remain a problem.
Paul Pogba is a fantastic player, we know him as a champion.
But something will change after the coronavirus crisis, because logically the salary demands someone at his level would have had before are now more difficult to get hold of.
Or, at least, he’ll have fewer clubs prepared to pay that money.
