Arsenal’s win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final has caused all sorts of problems for Tottenham and Wolves next season. But it could also see – eight teams from Premier League playing in European competition next season.
The FA Cup win takes the Gunners to the group stage of the Europa League next year, and now Spurs will have to go through the gruelling qualifiers to play Europa League qualifier next season.
Not only will they have to deal with more games, but they will also have to start the season earlier than others as well.
It will be interesting to see how the Londoners cope with this next season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s win also means that Wolves will now miss out on European football for the next season unless they win this year’s Europa League.
Wolves winning Europa League would ensure five UEFA Champions League spot for Premier League teams. They will join Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea for Champions League.
Jose Mourinho’s team are in need of depth and quality, and the Portuguese manager will now have to strengthen his side accordingly in order to deal with the pressure of the qualifiers and the Premier League start.
Tottenham will now be required to play in three one-off matches – the second and third qualifying rounds and a playoff round – all one week after each other, if they are to make it into the group stages of the Europa League next season.
It remains to be seen whether they can win those games and book their place in the Europa League group stages. Losing out on European football could be disastrous for them.
The Europa qualifiers are set to begin on the 17th of September, a week after the Premier League starts.
