Xavi identifies his first two signings at Barcelona including Chelsea target

Barcelona want to sign Sevilla youngster Jules Kounde

The legendary midfielder is the favourite to succeed Koeman at Barcelona

Xavi is apparently edging closer towards a return to the Nou Camp as the new manager of Barcelona.

The Catalan club fired under-performing Ronald Koeman after the shocking defeat to Rayo Vallecano.

Reports are stating that Xavi, who currently manages Al Sadd, is the leading candidate to take over at the Nou Camp.

According to a report from Metro, the Blaugrana legend has shortlisted Raheem Sterling and Jules Kounde as the primary targets ahead of the potential takeover.

Sterling is open to leaving Manchester City after going down the pecking order of Pep Guardiola this season.

The Three Lions international recently revealed his desire to play abroad and wouldn’t hesitate to leave Etihad if he gets deprived of playing time.

Earlier reports also stated that Barca are highly interested in Sterling’s services and could move for him in January.

Xavi also feels that Barca are vulnerable in the defence and hence he wants to bring Sevilla defender Jules Kounde to the Nou Camp.

The young French defender was a top target for Chelsea during the summer window but the deal did not materialise. The Blues were put off by Sevilla’s high valuation for Kounde.

Now, Barca could rival the Londoners for the 22-year-old, who is one of the best young central defenders in Europe.

The likes of Eric Garcia, Gerard Pique, Oscar Mingueza and Ronald Araujo have been somewhat disappointing for Barca this season. Kounde’s arrival could reinforce the defence but it remains to be seen whether the Catalan giants could meet his valuation.
