Bundesliga to undergo strict quarantine for the last two weeks
Bundesliga are planning to end the season without any delays before the Euros, and hence they have ordered all the clubs to undergo quarantine for the final ten days.
Hertha Berlin recently saw many of their squad members test positive for Coronavirus, which forced them to a two-week quarantine immediately.
A statement from DFL read:” The ‘quarantine training camps’ serve to additionally secure… match operations – especially taking into account the deadline pressure due to the UEFA EURO following the season.”
As a result, top players like Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Robert Lewandowski will be confined to ” quasi quarantine” – the players will be able to move only between home and the training ground.
The DFL has confirmed that from May 03, players and coaches of all 36 clubs in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga will only be allowed to leave their homes for training and matches. Clubs will then enter quarantine training camps on May 12 for the final two match-days. #BVB
Schalke relegated to Bundesliga 2, faced the wrath of the fans
Following the defeat against Arminia, Schalke have been relegated to Bundesliga 2 for the first time since 1988.
Schalke endured a horrendous campaign this term, which saw them register only two wins in 30 games played. With four games still left off, they have been relegated to the second tier.
In the wake of such disastrous happening, Schalke, which consisted of Sead Kolasinac and Mustafi, received an agonizing reception from the fans, who went to the extent to throw eggs at their players and attacked them verbally.
“There was a brief exchange between the players and some groups of fans after returning from Bielefeld in the early hours of Wednesday morning,” Schalke said in a statement.
“During the course of the encounter, some currently unidentified individuals overstepped boundaries that are non-negotiable for FC Schalke 04.”
