RB Leipzig 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt: Impressive Kevin Trapp performances earns a point for the visitors

Daichi Kamada-Eintracht Frankfurt

RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt cancelled each other out in the Bundesliga, as their match ended in a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena, earlier today.

Both sides were held to a 1-1 draw and RB Leipzig will be disappointed to have failed to close the gap with the League leaders with a win.

RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer forced Kevin Trapp into an excellent save before the German was called up for another super one on one save against Justin Kluivert.

Leipzig managed to put the ball into the net early on but Orban’s effort was ruled out because of offside.

The home side will be bitterly disappointed to have lost key defender Dayot Upamecano to an injury midway through the first half because of a thigh injury.

Despite all the problems, Emil Forsberg managed to Leipzig take the lead in the second half. Kevin Trapp did well to deny the effort from Kluivert but Emil Forsberg was quick to react and scored from the rebound on the 46th minute.

Frankfurt managed to score from a rebound as well after Daichi Kamada steered home Andre Silva’s deflected cross on the 61st minute.

The likes of Poulsen, Sorloth and Nkunku were all denied by an excellent Kevin Trapp and Frankfurt will be relieved to have stayed in the top 4, two points ahead of Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, the draw leaves RB Leipzig four points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.

We’re frustrated with the result today, because the way we played was good enough to win the game. Above all, I really liked how we played in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Julian Nagelsmann, RB Leipzig Manager

We had a good game and created a lot of goalscoring chances. We were also good in one-on-ones, but the final decision wasn’t the correct one on too any occasions.”

Emil Forsberg, RB Leipzig
Could prove to be a huge moment in the title race. Beating Frankfurt never a guarantee but missed opportunity for Leipzig. Thanks for joining me & @SteffenFreund on the world feed. #RBLSGE 1:1.
Leipzig take the lead against Frankfurt. As it stands, Dortmund are one point away from a #ucl spot.
