Barcelona can pull off Mbappe, Haaland transfers, insists presidential candidate Toni Freixa

Four potential managers to replace Quique Setien at Barcelona

Freixa says the Catalan club can afford the signings of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland despite £1b debt.

Barcelona can pull off the deals for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland and PSG ace Kylian Mbappe, claims presidential candidate Toni Freixa.

Haaland and Mbappe put on exquisite displays in the Champions League last week, with the latter one scoring a hat-trick against the Catalan club.

Ever since then, the duo has been subject to much praise and even deemed the successors to the throne of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Haaland, 20, is said to have a release clause worth £75m which would become valid only in 2022 whereas Mbappe has been subject to exit links from the French Capital club as his contract expires at the end of the next season.

Amid this Barca’s presidential candidate Freixa has claimed that there is more likelihood for the signings of the two young talents though the club has been hit financially due to the pandemic.

“It is absolutely possible. It’s what Barca should do. Incorporate players that can make a difference.

“We will never talk about players until we present them.

‘It is a bad strategy because you serve other clubs that step on you in negotiations on a platter.”

However, Real Madrid continue to lead the race for the signing of Mbappe and Haaland although the former one would cost around €200m.

Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola has recently claimed that only ten clubs in Europe can afford the transfer fee of the Norwegian striker of which four are from the Premier League.
