Barcelona contacted Jurgen Klopp, confirms presidential candidate Jordi Farre

Klopp confirms Liverpool departure date

Farre looks to have made contact with the German manager.

Jordi Farre, who is running for the presidential election, has said he wants Jurgen Klopp to manage Barca while adding that he has been in touch with the German’s entourage.

“If Koeman works and does well, he would be, of course. Obviously, we have our roadmap and we had already started several conversations with Jurgen Klopp because it seems to us that Barca need such a coach.”

He also added that Koeman is the perfect manager at present to lead what looks like a defunct Barca side.

“It is an exceptional moment and Koeman is a good solution considering that he is a legend of Barcelona, a benchmark. Because of his character, I think that was what the club needed now. I wish him the best because the challenge is huge.”

Farre will be competing against the likes of Victor Font and Lluis Fernandez Alla in the election to replace current president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Klopp has become a successful manager in Europe after leading Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League and Premier League trophy in back-to-back seasons.

The former Dortmund manager has recently revealed that he would see out his contract at Anfield until 2024 before seeking a return to Germany.

Elsewhere, Barca have appointed Koeman on a two-year-deal following the dismissal of Quique Setien.

The Catalans have come under scrutiny lately after going trophyless last season.
