Liverpool open talks with Inter Milan for £60m-rated Nicolo Barella

Liverpool are in talks with Inter Milan for the signing of 24-year-old midfielder Nicolo Barella.

The Italian international is one of the most coveted midfielders in the game right now, and it seems that the Reds are eyeing him up as a potential replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman recently left the club following the expiry of his contract.

According to reports, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have all started a dialogue with the Italian club regarding Barella, and it will be interesting to see who comes forward with an offer first.

Apparently, German champions Bayern Munich are prepared to submit an offer of around £60 million for the midfielder, and it will be interesting to see if Inter Milan are willing to sanction his departure this summer.

There have been reports of financial duress at the Italian club, and they could be forced to listen to offers for some of their key players in order to ease the financial pressure.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been a key member of Antonio Conte’s squad that won the Scudetto last season, and he has been likened to the former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard because of his playing style.
