PSG 0-1 Lille: Lacklustre PSG loses grip in the title race, Neymar sees red

Neymar-Paris Saint-Germain

Neymar was shown red in the injury time as PSG slumped at home by Lille.

PSG have suffered a 1-0 defeat against Lille, who moved ahead of Les Parisiens to the top spot in the league table.

The game was touted to have a big say on the title race as both sides have been tussling each other at the first two places.

Lille drew first blood after Jonathan David found the back of the nets in the 20th minute. The Canadian striker has been impressive in his debut season in Ligue 1, racking up 10 goals thus far.

PSG put on a sombre display as they were rocked to their eighth defeat of the season. Apart from David’s goal, the most interesting event happened in the dying minutes of the game when Neymar and Lille’s Djalo got involved in an altercation and both of them got dismissed in the aftermath.

Neymar, who returned after a short injury layoff, had a bad game to remember and so was in form Kylian Mbappe. The leading scorer of Ligue 1 failed to inspire his side.

Mauricio Pochettino has been a mixed bag since his take over although the win against Barcelona in the Champions League was massive, there were some scathing defeats in the league games which has put more pressure on the Argentine manager.

PSG will next face Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of UCL but their momentum has taken a hit ahead of the fixture.

Lille would look to end the hegemony of Les Parisiens in Ligue 1, having won the title back in 2011.
