PSG begin contract talks with Neymar, Mbappe amid financial problems

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the club are looking to extend the contracts of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The two attackers have been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the recent months and it will be interesting to see if the French outfit can hold onto them beyond this summer.

 Neymar and Mbappe have a contract with Paris Saint Germain until the summer of 2022 and it remains to be seen whether they are keen on continuing at the club.

The French outfit are also looking to extend Angel di Maria’s contract who will be a free agent at the end of this season.

Furthermore the likes of Juan Bernat and Julian Draxler could also be in line for a contract extension.

According to Leonardo, negotiations are underway with Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria.

The PSG director confirmed that the French club have suffered financial losses this year and they are in a tricky situation. it will be interesting to see if they can fulfil the financial demands of their key players and convince them to stay at the club for the long term.

“We’ve started negotiations with Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria to extend their contracts,” Leonardo told a Q&A session on PSG’s official website. “Bernat, too, and Draxler is at the end of his contract. Some young people too. We will intensify this.

“Remember that PSG suffered financial losses this year, we’re in a complicated moment and it’s not easy, but we’re talking directly with Mbappe and Neymar.

“There is a question of timing. The idea of an extension exists. We have arrived at the moment when we must have clearer situations.”
