Manchester City were linked with a move for Marc Cucurella in recent weeks but the Premier League champions failed to agree on a fee and the player has now ended up joining Chelsea instead.

After selling Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, Manchester City will need to bring in a quality left-back and it seems that they are eyeing up a move for the Atletico Madrid defender Renan Lodi as per Telegraph.

The experienced Brazilian full-back has shown that he can be a reliable option at left back and it will be interesting to see if Manchester City can bring him to the Premier League before the transfer window closes.

Lodi has proven himself in the Spanish league and the Champions League with Diego Simeone’s side and he has the ability to succeed in the Premier League as well.

Manchester City are currently lacking in depth when it comes to the left-back position and Pep Guardiola will be desperate to address the problem before the transfer window closes.

The Brazilian defender is currently at the peak of his powers and he has already proven himself in La Liga. The chance to move the Premier League could be a tempting proposition for Lodi and he will fancy winning major trophies at Manchester City under the management of Pep Guardiola.

The Atletico Madrid defender might not be the best option going forward but he’s reliable defensively and his arrival will certainly strengthen Manchester City at the back.

The Premier League side have used quality attacking full-backs in the past and while that has helped them in an attacking sense, it has often left them vulnerable defensively.

Lodi will certainly add a new dimension to the Manchester City defence and it will be interesting to see if he can settle in quickly and make an immediate impact if the transfer goes through.
