Manchester City preparing a bumper £100m bid for Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland-Borussia Dortmund

Manchester City are looking to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland at the end of this season.

The 20-year-old has developed into one of the hottest prospects in European football and Pep Guardiola is looking to bring him to the Premier League club next season.

According to reports, there is a clause in the Norwegian striker’s contract that allows him to leave for £68 million in 2022 but Manchester City are prepared to bid around £100 million in order to bring him to the club early.

Apparently, Premier League club Chelsea are interested in signing the Dortmund star as well.

The Norwegian’s father played for Manchester City in the past and it will be interesting to see if the League leaders can convince the young striker to move to Etihad.

City are all set to lose Sergio Aguero at the end of the season when his contract expires and they will need a long term replacement for the 32-year-old.

Aguero is Manchester city’s all-time record goal scorer and they will need a top-class player to fill his void next season.

Haaland has all the tools to develop into one of the best strikers of his generation and he certainly has the potential to justify an outlay of around £100 million.

It will be interesting to see if the Premier League club can fend off the competition from their rivals and secure the Norwegian’s services in the summer.
