Atletico Madrid picked up a 4-2 nil win over Cadiz in the Spanish league earlier tonight.
Star striker Luis Suarez scored a brace to take his side 10 points clear at the top of the table.
Diego Simeone will be pleased with the performance of his players and Atletico will now fancy their chances of going all the way this season. Atletico not only have a considerable lead at the top of the table right now they have a game in hand as compared to the defending champions as well.
Real Madrid were beaten by Levante last night and Atletico had to grab the opportunity and pull further clear at the top of the table.
Luis Suarez scored his 13th goal of the season to put his side ahead on the 28th minute With a stunning free kick but Cadiz got back into the game through veteran striker Alvaro Negredo on the 35th minute.
Midfielder Saul Niguez restored Atletico madrid’s lead on the 44th minute with a well taken strike.
Suarez was at it again early on in the second half and this time he scored from the penalty spot double his side’s advantage.
Alvaro Negredo completed his brace 21 minutes from time to reduce the deficit But the League leaders wrapped up the victory with an 88th minute goal from midfielder Koke.
Today’s defeat leaves Cadiz 13th in the Spanish League table with 24 points from 21 matches and they will have to improve defensively if they want to secure a place in the top half.
