Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The Red Devils could lose midfielder Paul Pogba at the end of the season, and the Serbian midfielder could be the ideal replacement for the French international.
Milinkovic-Savic has been a key player for Lazio over the last few seasons, and he has firmly established himself as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the game.
The 26-year-old will add power, presence and defensive cover at the heart of Manchester United’s midfield. The Lazio star will contribute in the final third as well with his runs into the box and the ability to chip in with vital goals.
The Serbian has been linked with a move to the Premier League for years now, and it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can get the deal across the line this time around.
It is highly unlikely that the Italian outfit will sell the midfielder midway through the season, and therefore Manchester United will have to wait until the summer for any transfer to materialise.
According to a report from Calciomercato, the Lazio midfielder is valued at around 70 million, and it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils are willing to fork out that kind of money for the Serbian.
Milinkovic-Savic has the potential to develop into a top-class player, and there is no doubt that he might be able to justify the outlay in the long run.
However, it is a steep investment for now, and Manchester United will have to strengthen the other areas of their squad as well.
