Manchester United sort out Kieran Trippier as an alternative for Wan-Bissaka

The Atletico Madrid full-back has his contract running until the summer of 2022.

Manchester United are seemingly in the lookout for a backup to right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been deemed as defensive-minded.

According to reportsAtletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier has fallen on the radar of the Red Devils, who want to strengthen the right-back position.

Trippier joined the Colchoneros from Tottenham in the summer of 2019 and has since attained a regular spot in the playing 11. With Atletico currently flying high in La Liga this season, the 29-year-old has had a big role to play in it, registering two assists in the recent fixture against Real Valladolid.

The English full-back, who was part of Spurs’ side that reached the finals of Champions League 18/19, has a year left in his contract at Wanda Metropolitano and it remains to be seen whether Atletico could tie him to a new deal.

Meanwhile, Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to add solidity to the right-back spot currently occupied by Wan-Bissaka.

The ex-Crystal Palace star has earned the reputation for being defensively good however his attacking frailties leave a lot to be desired.

The Norwegian manager has identified Trippier as the perfect back-up for Wan-Bissaka and moreover the former one is more of an offensive-minded full-back, who tries to influence in the attacking third.

United have been excellent of late in the Premier League despite early struggles, however, their fate in the Champions League would be decided on Tuesday.
