Torreira set for Atletico loan as Arsenal handed Thomas Partey boost

Arsenal Players to accept conditional Pay-cut

The La Liga giants are in talks to sign Torreira on loan.

Arsenal have received a huge boost in the pursuit of Thomas Partey as Lucas Torreira is wanted by Atletico Madrid on loan.

According to reports, Atletico are eyeing a loan deal for Lucas Torreira with a view to sign him permanently.

The Uruguayan has gone down the pecking order of Mikel Arteta and also earlier hinted about a possible departure from North London. Torreira has been recently linked with a return to Serie A, with Torino interested in a 22m pounds move.

The Gunners believe that Torreira’s departure could pave the way for their long time target and Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

However, the Rojiblancos have denied a potential swap deal involving Torreira and instead want the Gunners to meet Partey’s release clause of 45m pounds.

The Ghanese midfielder, who has a contract running until 2023, has reportedly turned down a new deal from the Colchoneros as he is interested over a new challenge.

Arsenal, who have been hit by the financial crisis, are trying to get rid of unwanted players to generate funds for new signings.

Houssem Aouar is another target for the Gunners but are facing the same difficulties in signing him from Lyon.

It is unlikely that Arteta can afford both Arteta and Aouar given the current circumstances and it remains to be seen which of the two players Arsenal would end up signing in the transfer window.
