Liverpool are going to splash out over £110 millions on player salary in their quest for their maiden Premier League title this 2019-20 session.

The Reds are currently top of the English Premier League after dropping just two points in the first half of the campaign and moving to over 50 league matches without a defeat over the festive period. They remain invincible for the calender year 2019.

It would be their first league title since 1990 – and obviously they have had to pay big bucks to bring a high-quality team together.

Despite boasting the top spot on the pitch, on the pay roll they sit behind only Manchester United and Manchester City in third – spending £113.256m on salaries in the 2019/20 season, as revealed by Spotrac. As expected, Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah takes home the biggest pay cheque of £200,000 per week.

The Mercurial winger is only the joint-eighth highest earner in the Premier League though, with David De Gea, Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Paul Pogba, Mesut Ozil, Anthony Martial and Sergio Aguero negotiating bigger wages.

Striker Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk, who came second in last year’s Ballon d’Or, are joint second on the list – taking home £9.36m a year. Salary of Sadio Mane looks odd. After his recent performance, he is target of many big clubs, e.g. Real Madrid and PSG.

On the other end of the table, talented defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Joe Gomez are among the lowest paid in the squad – with the trio on a basic annual salary of £2.08m, £2.6m and £1.456m respectively after Arnold and Robertson got a pay-hike recently.

All the players will likely earn more with sponsorship deals and bonuses as compared to wages, with many likely to have made a windfall after winning the Champions League last year.
