Lazio

Maurizio Sarri and his Lazio side will look to make it two wins in a row when they host Serie A newcomers Monza to Rome on Thursday.

The hosts enjoyed a positive outing last time out as they beat fierce city rivals AS Roma 1-0, courtesy of a goal by Felipe Anderson.

The victory was their first victory in three games following back-to-back losses to Salernitana (3-1) and Feyenoord (1-0).

The aim will now be to remain focused as they try to keep themselves in the top three where they currently sit after 13 rounds as coach Sarri admitted after their Roma win that their defeats against Salernitana and Feyenoord came because their “focus” was on facing their bitter enemies.

‘I Biancocelesti are currently on a run of just one defeat in eight Serie A outings (W6, D1), in which Lazio kept an incredible seven clean sheets in the process. Therefore, they will welcome Monza to Rome, confident of another win.

Possible Lazio starting line-up

Ivan Provedel; Manuel Lazzari, Nicolò Casale, Alessio Romagnoli, Adam Marusic; Segej Milinkovic-Savic, Danilo Cataldi, Luis Alberto; Pedro Rodriguez, Felipe Anderson, Mattia Zaccagni.

Injured: Ciro Immobile

Monza

Monza will also look to make it two consecutive wins in the league for the second time this season when they travel to Rome on Thursday.

The Serie A newcomers beat Verona 2-0 last time out, to take their points tally for the season to 13 points and keep themselves firmly above the relegation zone. Ahead of this round of games, the visitors are seven points ahead of Cremonese and can put clear daylight between themselves and the bottom three clubs ahead of the extended break if they get a rare three points here.

However, the chances of pulling that feat off is slim for a Monza side who travel to the Stadio Olimpico, having won just one of their six away fixtures since being promoted to Serie A for the first time this summer (D1, L4).

Regardless of form, manager Raffaele Palladino will be hoping to create a little bit of history as his side search for just their second-ever victory at Lazio, whom they meet in the league for the first time since 1985/86 having lost five of their previous nine away H2H clashes (W1, D3).

Possible Monza starting line-up

Michele Di Gregorio; Luca Caldirola, Marlon Santos, Armando Izzo; Patrick Ciurria, Filippo Ranocchia, Nicolò Rovella, Carlos Augusto; Matteo Pessina, Gianluca Caprari; Dany Mota.

Injured: Stefano Sensi, Pablo Mari

Doubtful: Andrea Ranocchia
