Mainz

Mainz will look to get back to winning ways this when they host Hertha Berlin.

The hosts who are currently on their joint-best points start to a league season after six games since 2010/11 (W3, D1, L2) come into this tie on the back of a 4-1 defeat at Hoffenheim. The loss was their second in three games, and first on their away games after three straight wins.

However, the same cannot be said about their home form. Bo Svensson’s side have won just a solitary point from their two home games this season. The coach will swiftly want a return to the form of last season that saw Mainz ranked as the fourth best home side after collecting all but 11 of their 45-point haul at the Mewa Arena.

The hosts will fancy their chances of bouncing back in this game given that they have a good record at home to Hertha Berlin, having not lost any of the last seven meetings in which they also managed five clean sheets (W4, D3).

Possible Mainz starting line-up

Robin Zentner; Stefan Bell, Maxim Leitsch, Anthony Caci; Silvan Widmer, Dominik Kohr, Angelo Fulgini, Barreiro Martins, Aaron Martin; Delano Burgzorg, Karim Onisiwo.

Injured: Marcus Ingvartsen, Jonathan Burkardt

Doubtful: Anton Stach

Suspended: Alexander Hack

Hertha Berlin

Hertha will look to make it three games without a league defeat when they face Mainz on Friday.

After a terrible start to the season that saw them collect just one point over the first four rounds, the visitors have put together a run of two games without defeat (W1, D1).

Their last outing was a 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, their first game this season they didn’t lose after conceding first. However, on the flip side, coach Sandro Wagner won’t have been pleased that his team gave up a second-half lead to draw for a second time.

It was still a much-improved performance, so much so that the coach- who faces his former club here – described the performance as “very satisfactory”. He will be hoping that his side will produce a performance as good as they did last weekend when they travel to Mewa Arena.

Possible Hertha Berlin starting line-up

Oliver Christensen; Jonjoe Kenny, Filip Uremovic, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Marvin Plattenhardt; Lucas Tousart, Ivan Sunjic, Suat Serdar; Dodi Lukebakio, Wilfried Kanga, Chidera Ejuke.

Injured: Lee Dong-Jun, Kelian Nsona, Linus Gechter, Derry Scherhant, Omar Alderete

Doubtful: Stevan Jovetic

Suspended: None
