Conte urged Eriksen to 'raise level' to get a start at Inter

Christian Eriksen has not been at his best since moving to Inter Milan in the summer and manager Antonio Conte has now urged him to raise his level.

The midfielder was a star at Tottenham but he is still adapting to Italian football.

It will be interesting to see if he can replicate his Premier League form in Italy next season. He has had the time to adapt to a new league and a new system and the fans will expect him to deliver now.

Conte revealed that Eriksen is improving and he needs to raise his game quickly because expectations are high in Italy. Eriksen was a big name signing and therefore the fans expect him to produce the goods on the pitch consistently.

The Inter Milan manager said: “He has to hold down certain levels, but balance is needed. He’s improving and he’s aware that he joined an ambitious club that is asking a lot of him. Expectations are high in Italy. The bigger the name you are, the more people expect from you. I’ve worked in England and the situation there is more enjoyable, more peaceful. He’s committed and doing well, but I have to make decisions for the good of Inter. When I pick a player, I don’t look from the neck up. I want them to carry on like this. This team has great spirit. Sometimes they need to believe in their quality more.”

For last couple of matches, Eriksen has lost his place to Valero at the front, and Conte seems to depend more upon the other Premier League import, Alexis Sanchez.

Inter Milan have invested heavily and they will want to fight for the title next year. Their key players will have to step up and deliver.

It will be interesting to see if Eriksen can find his confidence and sharpness soon.
