Lyon

Lyon welcome defending Champions PSG to the Groupama Stadium on Sunday night as they lock horns in a high-profile Ligue 1 clash.

Les Gones have started the season fairly well, recording four wins in seven Ligue 1 fixtures, including two losses and one draw. Peter Bosz’s side who are in fifth place currently trails league leaders PSG by six points.

After their eight-place finish last season, the Dutch coach will be anxious to improve on their disappointing last season campaign and mount a title challenge this season.

Lyon come into this game off the back of a 2-1 loss to Monaco, their second consecutive loss in the French top-flight this season and will face another daunting task coming up against Christophe Galtier’s free-scoring side. However, with the Champions returning from a midweek clash in the Champions League, Peter Bosz will be hoping that the extra rest enjoyed by his side will play a crucial role as they chase a first win over PSG since 2020.

Possible Lyon starting line-up

Anthony Lopes; Malo Gusto, Thiago Mendes, Castello Lukeba, Nicolas Tagliafico; Corentin Tolisso, Johann Lepenant, Maxence Caqueret; Tete, Karl Toko Ekambi, Alexandre Lacazette.

Injured: Moussa Dembele, Romain Favre, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Maxence Caqueret

Doubtful: None

PSG

PSG secured all three points against Maccabi Haifa in midweek with their star attacking trident, all on target for Christophe Galtier’s side.

The French heavyweights will now turn their attention to the domestic league as they continue their title defence, which has gone to plan so far.

PSG have outscored any side across Europe’s top five leagues thanks to their star-studded attacking trident of Neymar, Mbappe and Lionel Messi. Head coach Christophe Galtier will be hoping that his attacking unit will deliver another masterclass once more when they visit the Groupama Stadium on Sunday.

Despite their impressive attacking output, PSG have struggled to break down disciplined teams who sit back after taking the lead as was the case in their last game against Breast in the Ligue 1 and against Monaco in game week four where they were left off the hook when Neymar converted from the spot to steal a point for Christophe Galtier’s side. The French coach will be hoping that his side can kill the game off early on against Les Gones.

Possible PSG starting line-up

Gianluigi Donnarumma; Danilo Pereira, Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos; Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, Marco Verratti, Nuno Mendes; Lionel Messi; Kylian Mbappe, Neymar.

Injured: Presnel Kimpembe, Renato Sanches, Timothee Pemble

Doubtful: None
