Bukayo Saka is open to leaving Arsenal; Mikel Arteta admits a top-four finish could be the key to keeping him

Bukayo Saka - With Arsenal deal pending, receives Liverpool interest

Bukayo Saka has been linked with a move away from Arsenal at the end of this season, and a report from Mirror claims that the 20-year-old is open to leaving the London club.

The report further adds that the young winger currently earns around £35,000 a week at Arsenal, and the player will demand significantly improved terms before he commits his long term future to the club.

Furthermore, Arsenal will have to secure Champions League football to hold onto their best players as well.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the Gunners are keen on holding onto the player for as long as possible, and he is the best talent at the club.

However, he also admitted that the Gunners would have to secure Champions League football to keep the key players at the club.

Saka is regarded as a world-class talent, and he has already established himself as one of the best players at Arsenal.

It is no surprise that a player of his ability wants to play at the highest level regularly. Therefore the Gunners will have to finish the season strongly to convince the youngster to sign a new contract.

Arteta said: “Obviously, our desire is to keep Bukayo as long as possible. He is part of our club, our DNA. He is growing. He is maturing. His importance in the team is unquestionable, and we want to keep our best talent at the club.

“It is a conversation that we are going to have with the player, then with his agent, with his family- so everybody is on board.”

Arteta stressed the importance of Champions League qualification. He said: “Everything helps because the financial position is going to be determined by how good we are, where we finish. That will help our sponsorship, our marketing, our ticketing sales. Where it starts is how good we do on that pitch.”
