Liverpool are closing in on a £37.5 million deal to sign the Porto attacker Luis Diaz.

The Colombian international has been linked with a move to the Premier League over the last few weeks, and it seems that the Reds have now agreed on a fee with Porto for his services, as per Liverpool Statement.

The attacker is set to complete his move before the January transfer window closes, and Liverpool have arranged for a medical in Argentina this weekend.

The player is currently away on international duty with Colombia, and it remains to be seen whether all parties can finalise the formalities soon and officially announced the transfer.

The 24-year-old was heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur, and the London club were prepared to pay big money for services.

However, it appears that Diaz has chosen to join Liverpool instead of Tottenham, and the Londoners will be disappointed to have missed out on his services.

Apparently, Tottenham were prepared to pay more money to Porto than Liverpool, but the player convinced his parent club to accept Liverpool’s offer instead.

The attacker has been in fine form in the Champions League and Copa America, and he should be able to adapt to the Premier League as well.

The winger has a direct style of play, and he should be a quality fit for the Liverpool attack alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The Reds needed to add more depth to their front three, and the arrival of Diaz will undoubtedly improve the team immensely.
