RB Leipzig recorded an impressive 3-0 win against Hertha Berlin on Sunday as goals from Marcel Sabitzer, Mukiele and Willi Orban handed Julian Nagelsmann all three points and cut Bayern’s lead at the top of the table to two points.

The visitors capitalised on Bayern’s shock loss to Frankfurt yesterday to the leaders lead at the top to two points with an impressive show of attacking football and proper defending.

The visitors began the game in impressive fashion and took the lead 28 minutes into the tie after a few misses through Marcel Sabitzer. The Austrian put his side ahead with a thunderous right footed shot from the outside of the box that found the top corner.

The goal which was the midfielders third in four games and his fifth this season set the tone for the rest of the game as the goal allowed his side to build patiently with Hertha Berlin standing firm.

With the first half ending with Leipzig a goal up, the hosts emerged from the break with greater urgency and tried to get themselves back into the game via a few openings. But Dodi Lukebakio, Matheus Cunha and Maximilian Mittelstadt couldn’t convert when presented with a chance for the hosts.

With the hosts unable to find a way in the early exchanges of the second period, Leipzig capitalised on some sloppy defending by the hosts to double their lead. This time it was Nordi Mukiele with a fine finish in the 74th minute after he was released in the area by Tyler Adams.

Ten minutes later, Willi Orban sealed the win for the hosts, collecting a long raking pass by Sabitzer to ensure his side went home with all three points.

The result means that Hertha Berlin remain in danger of relegation as they occupy 15th place, level on points with 16th placed Arminia Bielefeld, but with a superior goal difference.

Hertha Berlin are back in action on Saturday with a visit to Wolfsburg while Leipzig host Monchengladbach on the same day.
