Manchester United have had a tough time in recent weeks, and the injury to star defender Harry Maguire has been highlighted as the reason behind their dip in form.

There is no doubt that Maguire is a quality player who improves Manchester United, and his absence has left them vulnerable at the back, but a club of their stature should be better equipped to deal with these injury problems.

The Red Devils have been beaten by Leicester City and Liverpool at home in recent weeks, and it remains to be seen whether they can bounce back strongly and finish the season on a high.

Judging by their performances in the absence of Maguire, one has to wonder how they would have fared if they had multiple injury problems like Liverpool this season.

The Reds have been without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip for most of the season, and Jurgen Klopp has had to feel makeshift defenders.

Liverpool have relied on unproven Academy players like Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips as well.

Van Dijk has played just five Premier League games for Liverpool this season. Meanwhile, Joe Gomez has seven Premier League appearances, and Joel Matip has played ten games in the League.

The Reds have faced an unprecedented injury crisis at the back this season, and yet they are in a race for a top-four finish.

It would be a remarkable achievement for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool if they manage to secure Champions League football for the next season.

Harry Maguire-Manchester United

As for Manchester United, there are plenty of other options like Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, who should be able to step up and deliver in the absence of Maguire.

Manchester United will be expected to win the Europa League, and it remains to be seen whether they can get over their current dip in form.
