Manchester United

Manchester United were lucky to escape with a point in their 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on Monday.

The Red Devils were bailed out again by David de Gea who made seven saves against Newcastle – his highest he has made against any side this season. The result extended United’s unbeaten run in all competitions to seven games and was enough to see them move level on points with seventh-placed West Ham, who have played a game more.

However, the result also means that United come into this round of games seven points behind Arsenal in fourth, 13 points behind Chelsea and Liverpool and 19 points behind leaders Man City.

They could still finish in the top four, judging by their quality. But with Arsenal and Tottenham picking up points at a high rate, Manchester United are in danger of quickly becoming left in the top four race unless they become more consistent.

However, with three wins from their last five meetings with Burnley (D1, L1), they will fancy their chances of taking maximum points from this game.

Possible Manchester United starting line-ups

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles; Fred, Scott McTominay; Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes; Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford.

Injured: Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Paul Pogba

Doubtful: Anthony Martial

Suspended: Harry Maguire

Burnley

After over 17 days of absence and three matches called off, Burnley will return to Premier League action this Thursday.

The Clarets have not played since the 12th of December when they were held to a 0-0 draw with West Ham. The result extended their winless run to five games and ensured that Sean Dyche’s side spent the Christmas season in the relegation zone.

However, despite not playing for that long, they remain in 18th place, just two points behind Watford, who are occupying the last PL spot on the table. With four of their games still to be played, Dyche will feel that he has the advantage in the relegation fight.

If his side can win this game, they could move out of the relegation zone. A win will also give them a much-needed boost and confidence that they can pull off their survival bid.

Possible Burnley starting line-ups

Nick Pope, Matthew Lowton, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Ashley Westwood, Dwight McNeil, Jack Cork; Chris Wood, Jay Rodriguez.

Injured: Connor Roberts, Ashley Barnes,

Doubtful: Maxwel Cornet

Suspended: None
