Atalanta

Atalanta will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Sassuolo to Bergamo this Saturday.

The hosts have enjoyed a strong start to the season, having won six of their opening nine games (D3). They are alongside Serie A leaders Napoli, the only two teams in the Italian topflight yet to taste defeat this season after nine rounds of games.

But while the Naples-based side won their last game to keep their place at the top of the table, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men dropped two valuable points against high-flying Udinese last time out.

In a disappointing game at the Dacia Arena last Sunday, two goals in the space of eleven minutes from Gerard Deulofeu and Nehuen Perez cancelled out goals by Merih Demiral and Luis Muriel and ensured that both teams shared the points.

The draw was the first time La Dea conceded over one goal in a game this season and as a result they have dropped to the second position in the league standing, two points behind Napoli.

They will welcome Sassuolo to the Gewiss Stadium looking to get back to winning ways to ensure that their unlikely title quest remains intact. Eight wins from their last ten games against Sassuolo will be enough motivation and confidence booster they need to get a win in this game and keep watching for any slip-ups from Napoli.

Possible Atalanta starting line-up

Doubtful: Juan Musso, Duvan Zapata, Berat Djimsiti

Sassuolo

Sassuolo are arguably Serie A’s most inconsistent team this season, having won three, drawn three and lost three of their opening nine games this season.

The visitors have not been able to put together a strong run of results so far. Their only attempt at doing so was early in the season when they went on a four-game unbeaten run. But even that run mostly draws (W1, D3), with I Neroverdi failing to score on two occasions in those draws.

Scoring goals has not been the biggest challenge for Sassuolo, who have averaged 1.2 goals a game this season. But when they have developed that habit of not being able to close the backline when they score a goal. They have only kept a clean sheet in games where they failed to score, with their opponents finding the back of the next each time Sassuolo scored.

Alessio Dionisi’s men come into this game on the back of a 2-1 loss to Inter Milan but will be encouraged by the fact that they kept the San Siro side at bay for much of the game. Before that loss, they had beaten Salernitana 5-0 and Torino 1-0 away from home.

Their win against Torino made it three away games without defeat (W1, D2). So they will travel to Bergamo confident of getting a good result and so extend their unbeaten away run.

Possible Sassuolo starting line-up

Andrea Consigli, Jeremy Toljan, Martin Erlic, Gianmarco Ferrari, Rogerio; Matheus Henrique, Maxime Lopez, Kristian Thorstvedt; Armand Lauriente, Emil Konradsen Ceide, Andrea Pinamonti.

Injured: Davide Frattesi, Gregoire Defrel, Domenico Berardi, Hamed Junior Traore, Mert Muldaur

Doubtful: None
