Spanish giants Barcelona crashed to a 3-0 defeat at home to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League earlier tonight.

Goals from Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski secured a morale-boosting win for the German outfit in their Champions League group opener.

Here at Anytime football, we look at the three major talking points from tonight’s contest.

Robert Lewandowski’s goalscoring form

The Polish international striker has been in remarkable form for club and country and it is no surprise that he managed to get on the scoresheet against Barcelona.

Lewandowski had scored In 17 straight matches prior to tonight’s contest and he scored a total of 27 goals during that period.

The striker took advantage of Barcelona’s defensive vulnerabilities and added a brace tonight.

Thomas Muller – Barcelona’s kryptonite

The German international has scored seven goals in his last six appearances against the Spanish giants.

Barcelona have a history of struggling against Mueller and it was hardly surprising when he got on the scoresheet earlier tonight.

Apart from his goal, Muller harassed the Barcelona defence with his runs, movement and link-up play.

Defensive inexperience

The likes of Araujo and Eric Garcia are undoubtedly talented players but they are lacking in experience and maturity right now.

Their vulnerability was evidence against veteran attackers like Muller and Lewandowski earlier tonight.

Both players struggled against quality attacking play from the German outfit and Barcelona should have signed a more proven defensive talent earlier in the summer.
