Kyiv 0-4 Barcelona: Braithwaite inspires Barcelona to a thumping win

Martin Braithwaite scored a brace to ensure Barca a place in the round of 16.

Barcelona have comfortably defeated Dynamo Kyiv 4-0 to book their place in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Both the sides failed to score in the first half while Barca had their breakthrough in the 52nd minute after Sergino Dest scored his maiden goal. The USMNT full-back showcases his attacking prowess on the right flank after linking up with Martin Braithwaite in the box.

Martin Braithwaite doubled the lead from the corner kick after he netted a tap-in goal, set up by debutant Oscar Mingueza.

The Dane had a chance to add another goal his name but his header was denied by Bushcan. However, Braithwaite soon completed his brace from the penalty spot.

Antoine Griezmann, who came as a substitute in the second half, wound up the game with a goal in the injury time, assisted once again by Braithwaite.

Ronald Koeman opted to rotate the squad and the result has been the desired one as Barca booked their place for the knockout stages.

Debutant Oscar Mingueza has shown that he can replace Gerard Pique on long term after a stunning performance.

Braithwaite’s role was often scrutinised since his arrival but the performance against Dynamo Kyiv showed how significant he is for the Dutch manager Koeman.

Meanwhile, Kyiv would be dejected after conceding four goals in the second half and their UCL journey has been cut short following the defeat.
