Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg will continue their recent renaissance in the Bundesliga when they welcome title-chasing Dortmund to the Volkswagen Arena this Saturday.

The hosts come into this game on the back of a 2-0 loss to Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. Goals from midfielder Joan Jordan and striker Rafa Mir ensured victory for Sevilla to keep Die Wolfe sitting rock bottom in their UCL group.

But in the league, the hosts are sitting in sixth place after 12 games and are just two points behind Freiburg who are occupying the third spot.

Their high placement on the table come as a result of their recent form under the new manager Florian Kohfeldt. Under his management, Wolfsburg are unbeaten in the league, having won two of his opening three games ( D1).

They will look to continue that run and pick up a win here. But they face a Dortmund side who they have lost to eleven times in the last 12 head-to-head meetings (D1).

Possible Wolfsburg starting line-ups

Pavao Pernan, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Maxence Lacroix, John Brooks, Ridle Baku, Maximilian Arnold, Josuha Guilavogui, Jerome Roussillon, Maximilian Philipp, Lukas Nmecha, Wout Weghorst.

Doubtful: Koen Casteels, Xaver Schlager, Bartosz Bialek

Borussia Dortmund

Title-chasing Borussia Dortmund fell to an embarrassing 3-1 defeat to Portugues side Sporting CP in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

A first-half brace from star forward Pedro Goncalves and a second-half goal from Spanish right-back Pedro Porro won the game for Sporting CP and knocked BVB who played with ten men out of the Champions League.

With their fate secured in the UCL, Marco Rose’s side turn their attention to the Bundesliga, where they at least have something to fight for.

The visitors come into this game sitting in second place, just one point behind Bayern Munich and with the possibility of going top of the table if they win.

They have won nine of their opening 12 games in Bundesliga this season and will fancy their chances of recording a tenth win against a Wolfsburg side they have not lost against in 12 games.
