Nico Gonzalez and Eric Garcia suffer muscle injuries

Barcelona duo Nico Gonzalez and Eric Garcia sustained injuries during the weekend La Liga game against Celta Vigo and were taken off the field.

The Catalan club have now confirmed that both Gonzalez and Garcia have suffered muscle injuries and wouldn’t be taking part in the international team.

Garica is on Spain’s senior squad for the World Cup Qualifiers against Sweden and Greece, while Nico, 19, has been called up by the Spanish U-19 side.

The injury crisis continues to deepen for the Blaugrana, with Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, Sergio Aguero, Pedri, Gerard Pique, Sergino Dest, and Martin Braithwaite already being on the injury list.

Xavi looking to move away from Barca’s experienced players

Barca’s new manager Xavi wants to get rid of veteran players Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, reports ESPN.

The trio, who have been ever present at the Nou Camp, was considered untouchable during the reign of previous managers.

However, Xavi wants to move away from the seasoned campaigners and build the squad around youngsters.

Both Alba and Pique haven’t been at their best in recent years but Busquets has managed to maintain his consistency despite being in his twilight.

Xavi is also planning for an overhaul in the January transfer window, with names like Raheem Sterling, Kingsley Coman and Jules Kounde on his transfer wishlist.

The odds are stacked up against the legendary midfielder as he arrives at Blaugrana in the middle of a deep crisis.
