Real Madrid Transfer Update: Latest on Varane future and Erling Haaland plan

Raphael Varane-Real Madrid

Real Madrid are planning to sell French international Raphael Varane at the end of the season.

The centre back will be a free agent at the end of next season and he has indicated privately that he does not wish to extend his contract at the Spanish club.

If he maintains that stance at the end of the season,  Real Madrid will look to cash in on him this summer as opposed to losing him on a free transfer.

Varane’s form has dipped this season and it will be interesting to see if he can get back to his best in the coming months.

There is no doubt that he is one of the best defenders in world football when he is on form and Real Madrid should look to keep him at the club beyond this season.

The defender is only 27 and he has his peak years ahead of him. Losing him now could prove to be a blow for Real Madrid.

The Spanish outfit are thought to be looking at David Alaba as a potential replacement at the end of this season.

Haaland a top target

Meanwhile, the Spanish champions are determined to sign a superstar this summer and Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is on their radar.

The Norwegian is one of the best strikers in world football right now and he is only 20 years old.

He is undoubtedly a generational talent who could go on to establish himself as one of the greats of the game.

It is hardly a surprise that clubs like Real Madrid want to sign an elite talent like Haaland and it will be interesting to see if they can convince the German club to part with the striker this summer.

Haaland has a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave at the end of next season and Real Madrid might have to pay a premium in order to bring his signing forward.
