Premier League clubs have been given the permission to organised friendly matches before the season resumes as per Sky Sports.
The current season was halted by the Coronavirus pandemic back in March and the games will resume on the 17th of this month.
However, the players are lacking in match fitness and they will need to play games in order to be ready for the start of the season.
If the players resume Premier League football without optimum fitness there will be a host of injuries and the clubs will be desperate to avoid that situation.
It will be interesting to see if the clubs take it upon themselves to arrange friendlies and sort out the situation.
As per regulations, the friendlies must be played in a venue that not more than 90 minutes away and the players will have to travel in their personal vehicles and wear the kit they will be playing in.
They will not be allowed to use the dressing rooms either.
Furthermore, no officials will take part in the games and the club officials will have to officiate the friendly games. This is because the PGMOL referees and assistants are yet to be tested for COVID-19.
The referees will be available to officiate a week before the planned resumption of the Premier League.
When the Premier League resumes on the 17th, the first two games will be between Man City and Arsenal, Aston Villa and Sheffield United.
