Chelsea is due to announce the signing of Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku, who has reportedly agreed to a transfer worth £97.5m to Stamford Bridge.

There is tremendous excitement among the Blues camp as Lukaku is coming off a stellar season at Inter – which saw him win Serie A’s MVP – followed by a near-brilliant goalscoring run in Euro 2020.

The Blues defender Antonio Rudiger has heaped praises on the Belgian, labelling him a beast.

Rudiger said: “He is a goalscorer and a top striker.

“You can obviously see the body type — he’s a beast, someone who is very strong — and he showed that in Italy in the past two years.”

“He’s done very well there and also for his national team.”

Surprisingly, Timo Werner, the player whose position could be in danger in the event of Lukaku’s arrival, has also lavished praise on the Belgian, calling him a top-three striker.

Warner said: “He’s probably one of the best three strikers in the world.

“I don’t think we need to say too much about him. He’s a world-class striker who would benefit any team.

The German forward also added that Lukaku’s presence could get the best out of him.

“At Leipzig, it always helped me having a big striker alongside me.

I’m not the biggest and, when you play on your own upfront, you always have the attention of one or two brawny defenders.”

Werner and Thomas Tuchel’s comments were alike, with the latter comparing Lukaku with Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski.

The 26-year-old will look to make a significant impact in his second spell at Stamford Bridge.
