Former Premier League striker urges Liverpool to replace Mohamed Salah with Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka-Arsenal

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months, especially after the Reds failed to agree on a new deal with the player.

The Egyptian international has publicly claimed that he wants to extend his contract at the Merseyside club, but the Premier League giants have not accepted his demands yet.

Former Premier League player and Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips has now claimed that Liverpool could replace the 29-year-old forward by signing Bukayo Saka from Arsenal.

The 20-year-old is certainly one of the most talented young players around Europe right now, and he could be an exceptional addition to the Liverpool attack.

However, the 20-year-old is far from fulfilling his potential now, and he might struggle to replace Salah’s contribution on the pitch immediately.

The Egyptian is probably the best player in the world right now on current form, and Liverpool would struggle to replace him directly.

That said, the Arsenal youngster has the potential to develop into a world-class footballer, and he could be a superb acquisition in the long run.

The player has recently been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City because of Arsenal’s failure to secure Champions League qualification.

It will be interesting to see if the Reds are willing to make their move for the England international at the end of the season.

The Gunners are certainly far behind the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in terms of quality and the ability to challenge for major trophies.

Players like Saka might be tempted to join bigger clubs in order to win trophies consistently.

Phillips told Football Insider: “I think he’ll get better and better, Saka. He’s still a young kid, and he’s done a lot already in his short career. I think he’s an unbelievable talent, and I think, moulded in the right way, he’ll turn out to be a top-class player.

“Whether he can go to Liverpool, if that was to happen, could he emulate what Salah’s done? It’d be very, very difficult for any player to do that.

“But he’s certainly got the attributes and qualities that he possibly could join Liverpool and replace Salah. Let’s not forget, Salah didn’t tear it up early on at Chelsea. For Saka, he’s developing all the time.”
