The Premier League leaders thrashed Leicester City 3-0 at King Power Stadium.

Chelsea produced an emphatic 3-0 win against Leicester City at King Power Stadium to extend their lead at the top of the table.

The Blues showed their early intentions after Ben Chilwell hit the top of the cross-bar. The left-back assisted Antonio Rudiger’s header from the corner kick as the visitors opened their account.

Not long after, N’Golo Kante scored a brilliant solo goal to double the lead for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Christian Pulisic, who came on as a substitute, put the game to bed by scoring a relatively easy goal in the 71st minute.

The Blues have moved six points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League table while the Foxes failed to move to the top half.

Kante scores a belter of a goal

N’Golo Kante showed his class tonight by scoring arguably one of the best goals of this season. After collecting Reece James’ pass, the French World Cup winner cruised from the middle of the park before scoring a belter of a goal with his left foot, which Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel had nothing to do about. That wonderful strike also left manager Thomas Tuchel in awe.

Chelsea’s wingbacks put on an impressive display

Chelsea’s wingbacks Ben Chilwell and Reece James were excellent today against the Foxes. Chilwell’s daunting runs behind the defence caused all sorts of problems to Leicester’s defence. He also set up Rudiger’s opening goal from the corner kick. Chilwell could have found himself on the scoresheet against his former club, but his shot was saved by Schmeichel. On the other hand, James was at his usual best, registering an assist today. The English right-back has been impactful for the Blues this season, having racked up 4 goals and 4 assists so far.

Pulisic is becoming an impact substitute

Christian Pulisic might be down the pecking order of Tuchel due to fitness concerns but the impact he brings whenever he is on the field is quite impressive. After netting a late goal for the United States national team as a substitute against Mexico last week, the 23-year-old did the same today against the Foxes by coming from the bench. He would look to build on these performances and change his fortunes as the season progresses.

Tuchel’s side with an emphatic win

It was kind of the performance Tuchel was hoping for after the disappointing draw against Burnley before the international break. Today, the Blues put on a complete performance and the players hardly put a foot wrong. The win has stretched their lead at the top of the league and it will also provide them with confidence ahead of the Champions League game against Juventus.

Foxes’ struggle continues

It has been a fluctuating season for the Foxes, who currently sit at 12th in the league table with 15 points. Leicester would have hoped for a change of fortunes after back to back wins against Manchester United and Brentford. However, their momentum didn’t last long, and they are now winless in their last three games. A win today could have seen them move to the top half of the table.
