Inter Milan

After their midweek exertions in the Coppa Italia, Inter Milan will look to get back to winning ways in the league when they welcome struggling Verona to the San Siro.

The hosts needed extra time on Tuesday to see off Parma in the third round of the Coppa Italia, with Francesco Acerbi scoring the decisive second goal in the 100th minute to ensure that the holders advanced to the next stage.

With the cup behind them, they will turn their attention to returning to the title race after recently suffering a wobble in their flailing title quest. The San Siro side were held to a 2-2 draw with Monza in their last league outing.

The result ended a run of three consecutive victories in Serie A for Simone Inzaghi’s boys. It means they come into this round of games sitting ten points behind table toppers Napoli

That point gap between them and the top means that the title race looks all but done for them. However, they will at least keep the fight on and believe any slip-ups could offer them a way back into the race.

For now, their eyes will be on making sure that they stay in the fourth position they currently occupy with a three-point cushion.

Possible Inter Milan starting line-up

Andre Onana, Milan Skriniar, Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, Matteo Darmian, Nicolò Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, Federico Dimarco, Lautaro Javier Martinez, Edin Dzeko.

Injured: Samir Handanovic, Romelu Lukaku, Marcelo Brozovic

Verona

18th-placed Verona will look to make it three league games without defeat for the first time since the end of last season when they face Inter Milan at the San Siro on Saturday.

The visitors have enjoyed some revival since the return of club football after the World Cup, taking four pints from the available six. Their first post-World Cup game, a 1-1 draw with Torino, ended a ten-game losing run. That draw was followed by a 2-0 win over Cremonese, their first win in eleven games.

New coach Salvatore Bocchetti will be pleased with how things have turned out since he replaced Gabriele Cioffi in October. With his first win at the club now under his belt, he will hope that his side can kick on and get back-to-back wins that will keep their chances of survival alive.

Given that they are six points from safety, they need every point they can gather between now and the end of the season to stand any chance of playing top-flight football next season.

Possible Verona starting line-up

Lorenzo Montipò, Pawel Dawidowicz, Isak Hien, Federico Ceccherini, Fabio Depaoli, Adrien Tameze, Ivan Ilić, Josh Doig, Yayah Kallon, Darko Lazovic, Milan Djuric.

Injured: None

Doubtful: Marco Davide Faraoni

Suspended: None
