Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss Liverpool’s matches against Porto and Manchester City

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has not travelled with the squad to Portugal ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against Porto.

According to Mirror, the 22-year-old participated in a training session with the Reds earlier today, but it seems that he has picked up an injury, and he could miss the game against Manchester City as well.

Liverpool are already struggling with injury issues in the midfield, and Alexander-Arnold’s absence will weaken this side immensely.

The England international is not just a quality defensive option for Jurgen Klopp. Alexander-Arnold is exceptional going forward, and he’s one of the best attacking fullbacks in the world.

Liverpool would be forced to field their youngsters due to the lack of depth in the right-back position, and Porto will undoubtedly look to make the most of the situation.

The Reds will need to ensure that they start a quality defender in place of Alexander-Arnold tomorrow as they will be up against Luis Diaz on the left flank.

The Colombian international is in red hot form right now, and the Porto star will fancy his chances against a makeshift defence.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Alexander-Arnold can return to action before this weekend’s clash against Manchester City in particular.

The Premier League giants have the quality to deal with Porto tomorrow, but they will need their best players in action against the Premier League champions at the weekend.

Furthermore, they are without creative midfielders like Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott right now, and Alexander-Arnold’s creativity could prove to be priceless for the Reds.
