Romelu Lukaku-Inter Milan

Inter Milan picked up a 2-0 win over Fiorentina in the Italian League earlier tonight.

The win takes Inter to the top of the League table and they are now one point clear of cross-town rivals AC Milan.

AC Milan will take on Crotone on Sunday and it will be interesting to see if they can climb back to the top of the table with a win.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte will be thoroughly impressed with his team’s performance against Fiorentina and it was their first win in Florence since 2014.

The away side came into the game looking to bounce back from their defeat against Juventus in the Italian Cup semi-finals and they will have gained immense confidence after tonight’s result.

It remains to be seen whether they can turn around the semi-final tie in the second leg next week.

Nicolo Barella scored the opening goal of the game for Inter Milan on the 31st minute.

Fiorentina responded well to going down and they created a couple of impressive chances for themselves however Samir Handanovic pulled off an excellent double save to deny the likes of Giacomo Bonaventura and Cristiano Briraghi.

Romelu Lukaku had the chance to double Inter Milan side vantage at the stroke of half time but the Belgian striker failed to hit the target from Alexis Sanchez’s cross.

Inter doubled their lead 7 minutes into the second half through Ivan Perisic who slotted in at the far post after an inviting cross from Achraf Hakimi.

Star striker Romelu Lukaku had an off day in front of goal and he had a goal ruled out for offside late on in the game.

Conte will be looking to build on this performance and pull clear at the top of the table in the coming weeks now.

This is Inter’s best chance of winning the scudetto in years and it remains to be seen if they can go all the way.
