Barca are not willing to sell Griezmann to Atletico Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann‘s future at Barcelona appears to be up in the air after his exit links emerged in recent weeks.
Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in the French man’s return and have proposed a swap deal involving Saul Niguez.
According to a new report, the Catalan club has decided not to sell Griezmann to their rivals Atletico as they don’t want to repeat the same mistake they did with Luis Suarez last year.
The Catalans sold the Uruguayan to Diego Simeone’s side nearly for free, which eventually turned out as a big transfer blunder.
Suarez led Los Rojiblancos to the La Liga title last season while scoring 21 goals in the process.
Barca have learnt their lesson, and they are not willing to sell Griezmann to their rivals.
The Frenchman contributed to 20 goals and 13 assists in all competitions last season, a much-improved tally compared to his debut season at the Nou Camp.
However, the Catalans still want to get rid of Griezmann due to financial depravity.
Barca have been forced to lower their wage bill in order to meet La Liga’s salary cap.
Players like Samuel Umtiti, Miralem Pjanic, Philippe Coutinho have been placed on the chopping block as Barca are in desperate need of funds to facilitate the contract extension of Lionel Messi.
Griezmann appears to have no bright future in president Joan Laporta’s new project after players like Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero have been signed on free transfers.
Besides Atletico, Manchester City have been registered with an interest in the 30-year-old.
