RB Leipzig

Marco Rose will look to begin his reign as RB Leipzig coach with a win when he welcomes his former side to Red Bull Arena this Saturday.

The German manager comes in as a replacement for the sacked Dominico Tedesco whose sacking came after the hosts were beaten 4-1 at home by Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

The result followed a 4-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in the fifth round of the Bundesliga–their second loss of the season.

So far they have won just one of their opening league games, leaving them sitting in eleventh place, seven points behind league leaders Freiburg, after five rounds of games.

And so they will come into this tie looking to quickly get back to winning ways to avoid a third straight loss in all competitions. Considering that they beat Dortmund in both fixtures last season, they will come into this tie hopeful of getting a win.

Possible RB Leipzig starting line-up

Peter Gulacsi; Mohamed Simakan, Willi Orban, Josko Gvardiol; Benjamin Henrichs, David Raum, Konrad Laimer, Emil Forsberg; Dominik Szoboszlai; Christopher Nkunku, Timo Werner

Injured: Dani Olmo, Yussuf Poulsen, Lukas Klostermann

Borussia Dortmund

While Tedesco has gotten the boot at Leipzig, his fellow young manager Edin Terzic has grown in leaps and bounds at Borussia Dortmund.

The German manager has enjoyed a good start to the new season, having guided his side to four wins in their opening five league games (L1), leaving them sitting joint top on the league table.

The only blemish on the Dortmund sheet this season was a disappointing 3-2 loss to Werder Bremen–a game that saw them concede three goals in the dying minutes despite being two goals up till the 89th minute.

They come into this tie on the back of a 3-0 drubbing of Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League, giving them the perfect start in what looks like a tricky Group G.

They will travel to Leipzig looking to pick up where they left off on the domestic front, with back-to-back Bundesliga victories seeing Edin Terzić’s side on 12 points after five games for the third successive season.

Given that they are already leading title favourites Bayern Munich by one point ahead of this round of games, they will look to keep their winning run going to give them the chance to break the monopoly of the Bavarians who are targeting an 11th-straight Bundesliga title this season.

The early signs are promising for Terzic, whose side can open their campaign with three away Bundesliga for the first time since 2010/11, coincidentally a season in which they won the league.

Possible Borussia Dortmund starting line-up

Gregor Kobel; Thomas Meunier, Mats Hummels, Nico Schlotterbeck, marius Wolf; Jude Bellingham, Salih Ozcan; Marco Reus, Julian Brandt, Thorgan Hazard; Anthony Modeste.

Injured: Sebastian Haller, Donyell Malen, Mahmoud Dahoud, Mateu Morey, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Gregor Kobel.
